Thank you Ravi

Dear Ravi,

Thanks for your email and your kind words.

Yes, it was shocking indeed!

I hope that you can also fathom how traumatic and irreversibly damaging the whole fiasco has been for my family members, and me especially because the whole thing was fabricated by a coterie of unethical, nepotistic and promiscuous people busy to save their ghastly interests.

Albeit, you are only aware of what came out in the newspaper and may not be aware as to what extent they could have persuaded damaging my reputation where my research partners, heads of various institutes, research agencies and clients had been intimated with false and fabricated information along with putting up a public notice on the institute website to ensure that I be hated and that my professional career be finished once and for all. I am told that one of the immediate former Deans of the institute even took the pain of going to London and meeting the administration of one my research collaborators there to ensure that they also sever all ties with me.

I have very high regards for my institute and its founders, especially as they dreamt of creating this iconic institute, which has produced great thought leaders and institution builders not only for our nation, but also globally. I also have very high regards for a large number of the faculty members and non teaching staff of my institute as we had always tried to put the need for the institute and the students above personal agenda ~ leading to huge sacrifices on family and personal fronts.

However, things got constantly worsened in the immediate past due to the gluttony of a small group of people holding positions of power or access to such power centers and their uncouth means for achieving what they wanted at the cost of life and career of a plethora of teaching and non teaching staff at the institute.

It is indeed very saddening to see the current state of affairs and the way candor, merit and pragmatism – perhaps the very basic building blocks of an iconic global academic institute – are constantly decaying and being compromised.

At times, life throws at you only binary options. In my case, for example, I was left only with two choices ~ either I crumble under the heavy pressure (in the name of the institute) of a coterie of people who, holding positions of power, had decided to ruin my life and career or I survive and try to turn around. The first option was obvious against the financial and social muscle power of that coterie in the name of the institute.

But, I chose the later.

Going by what Tagore had said, "Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high", I decided to stay put in Ahmedabad as I have done nothing wrong and have always been with truth ~ hence there was no reason for running away from this place. I decided to stay put and wait till I get my justified honor back. I am sure that truth will come out one day, may be slowly but surely!

I am sure that people like you, supporting truth, will be there beside the cause.

With warm regards,

Rajanish Dass
